In 2006, Apple released its first Intel-based Macintosh. The platform phased out PowerPCs by the end of 2006. In order to help developers and publishers support this new standard, INM has put together a service package to assist with the transition.
 |
The Intel version of Mac OS X features a technology called Rosetta, described by Apple as a dynamic code translator. Rosetta takes program code created to run on a PowerPC processor and translates that code into its Intel equivalents, thereby enabling Intel-based Mac computers to run older Mac OS X applications without any or with a few simple modifications. |
This service package is designed to provide developers and publishers with an initial evaluation of the compatibility of their current software on the new Intel-based Mac platform using Rosetta.
